James 4 (New International Version)

Contemplate the following questions and ideas during and after you read the chapter. Feel free to write your thoughts in a follow up to this post (keep in mind your posts will be available to the public).

Verse 4 calls us to submit ourselves to God. How do you need to be more intentional about submitting yourself to God, rather than relying on your own self?

I think it's in v. 7 that it calls us to submit to God but anyway, I need to be more intentional about submitting to God in one way by asking daily, many times throughout the day, for God to show me my true motives. I want to know if my true motives are from God or my own selfish desires. I need to ask God continually to increase my faith, increase my wisdom, increase my discernment, so that my motives and hence my actions will be honorable to God. Isn't it God's will for us to be closer to Him? And if I pray for something that is God's will, isn't he faithful to give it? Then I will pray and pray that He will show me daily how to submit myself to Him.
