James 2 (New International Version)

Contemplate the following questions and ideas during and after you read the chapter. Feel free to write your thoughts in a follow up to this post (keep in mind your posts will be available to the public).

Do you know anyone who practices faith but not good works? How about someone who practices good works but not faith? What would you say to that person?

This is one of those questions that I could easily get on a stump about, but then I think, isn't it more instructive to me so think of how this applies to me, not to "them." Is my faith evident by the works that it leads to? Can someone see my faith by what I do? Can I approach others who profess to be Christians, but who look different than me, have different political beliefs than me, or in whatever way challenge my view of what a Christian "should" look like with judgment-free love? Can my acceptance of other Christians who differ from me be a witness of my faith to other Christians and non-Christians alike? I don't think I would say anything to the person addressed in the question, unless I was very close to them and could speak with them about it in a loving way. I hope my actions would speak louder than my words. My words would probably make a mess of it anyway.
