I hear a message of selflessness. I have to truly rejoice in the good that God gives me and that God does around me and through me. I must put aside my own worldly "wants" and be content, but more so joyful with the needs and wants that God graciously gives me daily. This is easy for me to do in spurts, but much harder to really live out daily. I find it too easy to focus on what I want, what I think I need, ect. than to really focus on what God has already given me and promised to give me daily. Beyond that, I really should feel greater joy at the blessings I see God giving to those around me and the blessings that God allows me to be to those around me. Isn't that what Christ did? He rejoiced in God's presence, blessings, and work around and through himself. He certainly did not focus on material or temporal "wants." He knew God would provide. I'm just like the disciples in that I must be reminded over and over again, "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand?" That's one reason I love the children's blessing that ends "thank you God for daily bread" Each time my kids says it, it reminds me that God provides what I need each day, one day at a time.
