Luke 5 - October 13

Please read Luke 5 for today. Click the following link, or read from your own bible as you wish.

Luke 5 (New International Version)

Contemplate the following questions and ideas during and after you read the chapter. Feel free to write your thoughts in a follow up to this post (keep in mind your posts will be available to the public).

When did you first experience the power and presence of Jesus in your life, as Peter did (5:1-1l)? How did you respond? If Jesus walked among us today, would you invite him into your home, like Levi, or would you be upset about the friends he chose, like the religious people (5:27-32)?

I first experienced Jesus when I was in 5th grade. I attended a "county-wide crusade", basically a non-denominational revival, at our local football stadium. I remember sitting there just so antsy to go down when the invitation was given, but scared to do so. I finally did, and I'm very thankful for that experience as a concrete time in my life to look back on and see God's prompting of me to act. I certainly wish that I could invite Jesus into my home today, and I hope that I would not have the selfish pride to questions anything that he did. What a wonderful gift to be one of the sinners that Jesus so freely comes to heal!
